Hands-on Learning

Teaching
  • Extensive experience working with both adults and children, creating and delivering engaging lessons across a wide range of topics.

Project Coordination
  • Rewrote the Emergency Response Plan for the RM of Whitehead to ensure compliance with the Emergency Measures Act(2016).
  • Conducted inspections and delivered detailed reporting for Manitoba Conservation Forestry to support natural resource protection (2013).
  • Advanced urban planning, conservation, and development initiatives with the Brandon & Area Planning District, ensuring sustainable growth under The Planning Act and The Municipal Act (2000–2004).
  • Represented the City of Brandon and the Brandon & Area Planning District on the Assiniboine Delta Aquifer Round Table, contributing to regional water management planning (2000–2004).
Research & Analysis
  • Conducted field research, data collection, and analysis to support rural development initiatives, contributing to the Manitoba Community Adjustment Handbook (2000).
  • Led a public outreach program with the Brandon Soil Management Association to control invasive leafy spurge, protect local ecosystems, and produce a comprehensive GIS map using primary data (1999–2000). 
Map Making, GIS, and Spatial Analysis
  • Completed the GIS for Environmental Management course through the University of Toronto (2025). Strong background in cartography and geographic interpretation through both academic study and professional roles.
  • Proficient in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including QGIS, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD. Applied GIS skills with the Brandon & Area Planning District, supporting urban development and design, subdivision reviews, and zoning applications (2000–2004).
  • Utilized GIS mapping and data interpretation as a Forest Protection Health Inspector with Manitoba Conservation, aiding in resource protection and forest health monitoring (2013).
  • Maintained and catalogued the 1:50,000 topographic map collection as a Map Librarian at Brandon University, supporting GIS digitization and research projects (1998–2000).
  • Skilled in analyzing spatial data and creating maps to inform planning, conservation, and development initiatives.

Digital Media & Web Design
  • Designed and maintain the website for A Tail to Tell Frontline Rescue, improving organizational visibility and outreach (2023–present).
  • Create and manage web content for Funds for Furry Friends, supporting adoption efforts and community engagement (2018–present).
  • Developed Sarah Sobry Photography, an e-commerce site promoting and selling photography work (2016–present).
  • Built My Online Classroom, a personal teaching website used for educational delivery and student support (2019–present).
  • Strong understanding of website management, digital marketing, and customer service through ongoing projects.

  • Produced educational content for children aged 5–14, including interactive lesson plans, instructional videos, and remote learning resources.

  • Worked as a professional photographer specializing in real estate, editorial, and landscape photography, with work published in local and national publications (2016–2017).
